Fellowships

On a technical note, stipend refers to the dollar amount you, the student, would receive. The tuition category refers to the amount of support provided to your school. Funding refers to amount of money appropriated to the program by Congress. Pay particular attention to this list in terms of WHAT is funded (aka--liberal arts isn't present outside of Fulbright and Javits).

University of Pennsylvania
McNair Graduate Fellowship

  • $12,000 stipend
  • Tuition stipend varies by field
  • Renewable for four or more years with demonstrated academic success
  • For incoming McNair Scholars pursuing doctoral study

Louisiana State University
Two Year Tuition Waiver

  • Any McNair Scholar who is accepted into a masters or doctoral program at LSU is able to apply for a two-year tuition waiver offered by the LSU Graduate School.

Old Dominion University
President's Graduate Fellowship Program

  • Fellows will be provided with support for educational expenses, not to exceed $10,000 per year, and a $15,000 per year stipend for a period not to exceed three years.
  • During the period of the award, the Fellow will be appointed to a non-tenure track position at Old Dominion University.
  • Upon completion of the degree, the Fellow will be appointed to a tenure-track faculty position and be required to serve in that position for a minimum of three years.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted into a graduate program leading to a terminal degree at anaccredited institution.
  • All applicants must be U.S. citizens.
  • Preference will be given to applicants in areas of Accounting, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Science and Health Sciences.

Smithsonian Fellowships

  • Open to all qualified individuals, without reference to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, are, or condition of handicap. Awards are based upon merit. The following fellowships are offered:

Senior Fellowships for scholars more than seven years beyond the Ph.D.

  • Applications for Senior Fellowships may be submitted two years in advance.
  • Term: Three to twelve months.
  • Stipend: $27,000 per year plus allowances.

Postdoctoral Fellowships for scholars up to seven years beyond the Ph.D.

  • Term: Three to twelve months.
  • Stipend: $27,000 per year plus allowances.

Predoctoral Fellowships for doctoral candidates to conduct dissertation research.

  • Term: Three to twelve months.
  • Stipend: $15,000 per year plus allowances

Ten-Week Graduate Student Fellowships for graduate students to conduct independent research usually before having been advanced to candidacy if in a Ph.D. program.

  • Term: 10 weeks
  • Stipend: $3,500.

"Improving Institutional Research in Postsecondary EducationalInstitutions" announces a research grant and scholarship program.Goals of the program are:

  • to foster the use of the federal data bases to inform research on institutional research in postsecondary education
  • to foster use of federal data bases by institutional researchers (including the national sample surveys) in postsecondary education decision making

to provide opportunities for professional development to institutional research professionals and other researchers.

Duke University
The Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Libraryof Duke University announces the availability of grants for researchers whose work would benefit from access to the library's archival and rare printed collections. These grants are offered by the library's research centers:
